Altamiro Carrilho tinha exata medida de sua importância na música popular brasileira, mas dispensava qualquer tipo de estrelismo, algo cada vez mais raro. Ele atendeu com muita alegria o convite para gravar um depoimento no documentário sobre o flautista Patápio Silva. Altamiro Carrilho had exact measure of its importance in Brazilian popular music, but dispensed with any kind of stardom, something increasingly rare. He met with great joy the invitation to record a statement in the documentary about the piper Patápio Silva. Very comfortable, Altamiro also recalled for almost an hour to tour in Japan alongside Elizeth Cardoso. Undoubtedly, a great artist! (15/08/2012)

LANÇAMENTO DO DOCUMENTÁRIO PATÁPIO EM ITAOCARA

Neste final de semana aconteceu o esperado lançamento do documentário Patápio em Itacoara, norte fluminense. A cidade é a terra natal do virtuoso flautista Patápio Silva (1880 – 1907) que influenciou inúmeros talentos na música popular brasileira como Altamiro Carrilho e Luizinho Eça. O filme tem direção de Alexandre Palma, pós-graduando em cinema-documentário na Fundação Getúlio Vargas. A partir de sua estreia no Instituto Cravo Albin em 2011, o curta-metragem participou do Festival Internacional do Documentário Musical em São Paulo e do Encontro de Cinema Negro Brasil África e Caribe. O filme foi exibido em várias sessões na sexta, sábado e domingo no Parque de Feiras e Eventos de Itaocara em uma tenda que reproduziu o antigo Ita Cine. Ao lado do documentário que retratou o músico Patápio Silva, a cidade recebou shows de Diego Nogueira e Jota Quest em seus festejos julinos entre os dias 13 e 15.  Um agradecimento especial ao Secretário de Cultura de Itaocara, Henrique Resende.

This weekend there was the expected release of the documentary in Patápio Itacoara, northern Rio de Janeiro. The city is the birthplace of virtuoso flutist Patápio Silva (1880 - 1907) which influenced many talents in Brazilian popular music as Altamiro Carrilho and Luizinho Eca. The film is directed by Alexandre Palma, a graduate student in documentary film at the Getúlio Vargas. From his debut at the Institute Cravo Albin in 2011, the short film participated in the International Documentary Festival Musical in São Paulo and Brazil Meeting Film Black Africa and the Caribbean. The film was shown in several sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Park Fair and Events Itaocara in a tent you played the old Cine Ita. Alongside the documentary that portrayed the musician Patápio Silva, the city shows recebou Diego Nogueira and Jota Quest in their celebrations julinos between 13 and 15. Special thanks to the Secretary of Culture of Itaocara, Henrique Resende.

CINE-SAMBA EXIBE OS DOCUMENTÁRIOS PATÁPIO SILVA E TIAS BAIANAS

Na próxima quarta-feira, 19 de outubro, estreia, no 2o. andar do Botequim Vaca Atolada, na Lapa, o Cine Samba Clube, com a exibição dos documentários Patápio Silva e Tias Baianas, a partir das 19h. No evento, vai estar presente o cineasta e artista plástico Alexandre Palma, diretor do documentário sobre o flautista Patápio Silva, que vai participar de um bate-papo com o público presente. A entrada é gratuita mas restrita à lista de presença. O nome deve ser enviado para o email redacao.cult@gmail.com até às 16h do dia do evento. O Cine Samba Clube foi criado pelo jornalista Alexandre Nadai, o artista plástico e cineasta Alexandre Palma, a cineasta Manu Vaccarini e o violonista André Muato. O quarteto vai reunir os amantes de cinema e samba, em um ambiente diferente a cada mês, para que a história desse gênero possa ser conhecida e mostrada sem fronteiras.

PATÁPIO NO SHOW DE DÉCIO ROCHA

Essa iniciativa só poderia partir do nosso amigo e jornalista Alexandre Nadai!(http://www.deciorochanadai.blogspot.com/) No dia 1 de setembro foi realizada a segunda exibição de Patápio no show do multi-instrumentista Décio Rocha no Teatro Odisséia.  Na véspera, muito trabalho: fui convidado para elaborar a cenografia no pequeno palco e o trabalho foi grande: lanternas, cordas, linhas e brinquedos ambientaram a performance de Décio ao lado de Rita Ribeiro. Valeu! Com Patápio, vamos dar esse e outros passos para o diálogo entre a Música, as Artes Visuais e o Cinema!

This initiative could only from our friend and journalist Alexandre Nadai! (Http://www.deciorochanadai.blogspot.com/) On the 1st of September was held the second Patápio display in the show's multi-instrumentalist Decio Theatre in Rock Odyssey . The day before, a lot of work: I was invited to design the scenery on the small stage and the work was great, flashlights, ropes, lines and toys ambientaram performance of Decius with Rita Ribeiro. CLUBE DO CHORO EM BRASÍLIA

Nesta semana conheci uma iniciativa liderada pelo músico Henrique Filho, o Reco do Bandolim. O Espaço Cultural do Choro em Brasília tem concepção arquitetônica de Oscar Niemeyer e pretende valorizar não apenas o choro, mas a diversidade de manifestações da autêntica MPB. O projeto conta com uma área de 2150 m2, uma casa de espetáculos, prédio anexo com oito salas de aula e centro de memória. Em plena quinta-feira pude conferir o show com casa lotada do instrumentista Ulisses Rocha (foto), mais uma oportunidade para a divulgação do curta-metragem de Patápio Silva. This week I met an initiative led by musician Henry Son, the Reco's Mandolin. The Cultural Space of crying in Brasilia has architectural design by Oscar Niemeyer and seeks to enhance not only crying, but the diversity of manifestations of authentic MPB. The project has an area of 2150 m2, a playhouse, enclosed building with eight classrooms and memory center. On Thursday I was able to fully check out the show with the packed house musician Ulisses Rocha (pictured), plus an opportunity to publicize the short film Patápio Silva. O SOM DAS BANDAS NA RÁDIO MEC

Como parte da estratégia de divulgação do curta-metragem Patápio neste domingo estive com Ana Cláudia na gravação do programa O som das bandas no estúdio da Praça da República. O programa é transmitido todo domingo às 15 horas na Rádio MEC AM 800 KHZ e retransmitido aos sábados às dez e meia da manhã na Rádio Nacional 1130 KHZ (http://www.ebc.com.br/). À convite do apresentador Eduardo Wermelinger assistimos a participação da Banda Portugal sob a regência do maestro José Soares. A banda com sede na Rua do Riachuelo foi fundada em 1821 pela comunidade luso-portuguesa e hoje a grande maioria de seus integrantes é brasileira..

No final de março reencontrei o musicólogo Ricardo Cravo Albin na Urca (http://institutocravoalbin.com.br/). Eu levei uma cópia do DVD do curta-metragem de Patápio Silva e ele assinou o termo de autorização de voz e imagem. Animado com o documentário, Albin ofereceu de maneira generosa o espaço do Instituto para um lançamento do filme. Semanas depois, retornei com nossa amiga e assistente de direção Teresa Fazolo para agendarmos uma data e traçamos algumas estratégias em parceria para o evento cultural. Nesta ação, o designer Giordano Bruno Celleghin do Jornal O Globo confeccionou um layout para o cartaz do documentário.

In late March rediscovered the musicologist Ricardo Cravo Albin in Urea (http://institutocravoalbin.com.br/). I took a copy of the DVD of the short film Patápio Silva and he signed the authorization for voice and image. Encouraged by the documentary, Albin generously offered space at the Institute for a film's release. Weeks later, I returned with our friend and assistant director Teresa Fazolo to schedule a date and we draw together some strategies for the cultural event. In this action, the designer Giordano Bruno Celleghin the O Globo newspaper concocted a layout for the poster of the film.

 

O ROTEIRO

Como abordamos em uma das primeiras postagens deste blog, a princípio, a hipótese de elaboração de um roteiro com elementos do docudrama não estava descartada. Mas, ao longo da produção, percebemos que o alto custo desta escolha poderia inviabilizar o fechamento do projeto. Como em tudo na vida, percebemos que o ciclo de trabalho esgotava-se; a mobilização da equipe era descendente.  Durante algumas semanas de fevereiro de 2011 decidi rever com afinco os arquivos com as transcrições de entrevistas, imagens, fotos, textos, pesquisas e músicas de Patápio Silva.  Este verdadeiro mosaico começou a tomar forma de documentário com a elaboração de um novo roteiro tendo como ponto de partida os livros de Leandro Saraiva (Manual de Roteiro, SP: Conrad, 2004), Consuelo Lins (Filmar o real, RJ: Zahar, 2008) e João Rodrigues (O negro brasileiro e o cinema, RJ: Pallas, 2001), sendo a primeira publicação um presente de nosso irmão Rômulo Palma. Em paralelo, iniciamos a elaboração de um  story-board, peça fundamental para completar o trabalho na ilha de edição.

As we discussed in one of the first posts of this blog, in principle, the possibility of developing a screenplay with elements of the docudrama was not discarded. But during production, realized that the high cost of this choice could derail the project closure. In parallel, we started developing a story-board, a key to complete the work in the editing.

Na monografia de Maria das Graças Nogueira de Souza, Patápio, músico erudito ou popular? (FUNARTE, 1981) a autora cita lembranças do professor da Escola Nacional de Música, Orlando Frederico sobre Patápio Silva: “Muitas vezes fomos ao quarto de rapaz solteiro, lá, no fundo do corredor de um velho 3.º andar da rua Lavradio, eu, João Capistrano Gomes do Amaral (hoje engenheiro civil), o tão talentoso Adalberto de Carvalho e outros colegas para ouvi-lo”.  Uma nova leitura sobre esta valiosa referência histórica direcionou a última filmagem do curta-metragem para a Lapa. Em uma manhã de calor registramos as antigas construções da virada do século XIX para XX como o antigo teatro Apollo, hoje ocupado pela Escola Municipal Celestino da Silva e aonde meu pai estudou na infância. Como na época de Patápio, no final das contas a arte permitiu o reencontro de grandes amigos: Alexandre Nadai, Felício Hungria e o ator Felipe Damiani.

(FUNARTE, 1981) the author cites teacher's memories of the National School of Music, Orlando Silva Patápio about Frederick: "I often went to the room of young single man, there, down the hall from an old 3. Floor Lavradio Street, I, John Capistrano Gomes do Amaral (now a civil engineer), the highly talented Adalberto de Carvalho and colleagues to hear him. "A new reading of this valuable historical reference directed the filming of the last short film for the Lapa. RIO-ITAOCARA II

No primeiro semestre de 2010 reli algumas anotações para o roteiro do documentário. Faltava um elemento poético que associasse a música de Patápio Silva e a presença das artes visuais em sua cidade natal. Uma maior ênfase na escultura em homenagem ao flautista talvez pudesse indicar uma possível solução. A segunda estadia em Itaocara aconteceu no último final de semana de agosto. A equipe contou com novas adesões: o jornalista Felício Julio de Azevedo Hungria e a economista Ana Claudia Loureiro. Novamente o projeto recebeu o apoio da prefeitura mediante o empenho do agora Secretário de Cultura Henrique Resende.  As filmagens contemplaram a apresentação da Escola de Música Patápio Silva e vários planos com a escultura de Patápio modelada por Henrique e localizada na praça principal da cidade. Alguns moradores cederam depoimentos e no final da tarde de sábado eu e Felício apresentamos uma comunicação para convidados no Teatro Kiúd. Após a dinâmica exibimos alguns trechos do material bruto com Altamiro Carrilho e Magro do MPB4.
